La Tavola—meaning “the family table” —
is more than just a restaurant to us. It represents our commitment to treating our employees, customers, and community as family. Our journey began in the early ’90s when we met at Tapatio, where I was working in the kitchen. Krista and I started dating in 1994, and we’ve been together ever since.
My culinary journey started when I was fifteen years old as a busser and server, moving into the kitchen at nineteen. I was fortunate to train as a chef’s apprentice under Chef Hubert Seifort, work alongside the Moretti family, and help open Tapatio with Chefs Hartley Coursen and Bruce Hildreth. Meanwhile, Krista graduated from Ohio State in 1995 with a degree in Fashion Merchandising, and though she had no previous restaurant experience, she quickly discovered her talent for baking.

Today, La Tavola has found its home in Grandview Heights, where we’ve flourished since 2014. Building on our passion for Mediterranean cuisine, we opened Lupo in Upper Arlington in 2018, where Chef Todd Elder presides over our vision of Spanish and Mediterranean tapas. We’re proud that each of our restaurants has been recognized as “Best New Restaurant” by Columbus Monthly.
As Grandview residents ourselves, we feel a deep sense of community connection. We actively support all aspects of our community—from students and teachers to the library, athletics, theater, and academics. At La Tavola, every meal is a celebration of family, community, and authentic Italian cooking.
